Mr. Elias Sait
(31.03.1953 – 03.10.2025)

It is with great anguish and sadness that we mark the passing of Elias, who was a source of
immense strength and wisdom for the Indian Seafood exporting community.
He served with great distinction as the National President and Secretary General of The
Seafood Exporters Association of India.
After a brave battle, Elias left us at 9:45 pm on 3rd October 2025 at Apollo Hospital, Chennai.
Over the last three decades, Elias combined a steady commitment to the Association with a
genuine concern for the well-being of the industry. His thoughtful leadership, his sense of
responsibility, and his approachable nature left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends
alike.
Throughout his distinguished career, Elias was not only known for his leadership, but for his
humble wisdom. He once said, “In the industry, it’s not just about exporting seafood, it’s about
exporting trust and quality that speaks for itself across oceans.” This simple yet powerful quote
reflected his approach – building relationships, maintaining uncompromising standards, and
persevering through challenges with integrity.
Colleagues fondly recall how, during tough negotiations, his calm demeanour and thoughtful
words often turned potential conflicts into opportunities.
His legacy will endure – not only in the growth of the Indian seafood export sector, but also in
memory, in the generosity of spirit he embodied and for the love he gave so freely, inspiring
all who worked with him to aim higher and work together with respect – a leader who
championed the industry with heart and vision. Though he is no longer with us in body, his
indelible spirit remains etched in every life he touched and every cause he championed.
During 2007 to 2011, he was the guiding light and mastermind in getting DEPB and VKUGY
benefits to the industry.
It’s very difficult to say goodbye to a very close friend with whom we worked closely for more
than three decades. He will always be remembered with respect and fondness.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family at this time of loss.
